Well, after two weeks I figured I would write again! Sorry for my lack of activity on our blog... I'm still getting used to this. Hope you enjoyed Niall's last update. :)
It's Saturday evening and I am currently snuggled on the couch in my in-laws home. The fire is lit and it feels wonderful to be on a little weekend getaway. Niall and I headed down south last night to spend a couple days in Kildare with the fam... Benny and Marie are the perfect solution to missing everyone back home! It is so comforting to be here, I am enjoying every minute of it and wish we could stay longer. They are wonderful... I feel so blessed to have them both as my new mum and da. :) We had a lazy morning just visiting over breakfast and tea, then Niall and I went to the gym with Avril for a gym session and swim. It's nice having another sister and friend... Avril is so fun to be around and has such a sweet heart. Today she taught me some Irish sign language-- I've only got a couple phrases down but I'm hoping to learn more! (watch out Brooke :)
So let's see... the last week and a half or so I've been applying for jobs online and looking into what is required to substitute teach in Northern Ireland. It can be daunting trying to figure out the system but Niall is very encouraging and helpful whenever I have questions or don't understand something. He keeps me staying positive, even though sometimes it's easy to get discouraged. I've applied for a couple classroom assistant jobs which would be great-- but also turned into resumes to random places (secretarial jobs, Starbucks, babysitting...) It would be my dream to get my foot into the education door over here but we'll see. I'll keep you guys posted on the job front... as of now I'm still unemployed so you haven't missed much these past two weeks! Keep me in your prayers in that regard... not only for an open door, but also that I would remain determined and proactive while having patience.
We stay busy in the evenings, there always seems to be something going on-- Niall has had several volleyball games so it's nice to be able to cheer the star outside hitter on. :) I haven't had a game yet, but the girls' team is scheduled to play Monday night so hopefully that will be fun. We both go to weights training session every Tuesday night and usually when we have a free evening, Niall will set up a raquetball game or something of the sort. We signed up for a home group at church but I think we came in the middle of a session, so we may have to wait a couple more months before we can get involved in that. Needless to say, Niall's not one to just sit around!
Niall and I are still enjoying married life and as Karen Dohm would say, no "red flags" yet. :) Since we've been here nearly a month now and I'm feeling more settled in, it's easy to let feelings of loneliness creep in. I'm anxious to have a life and close friends but everyone keeps telling me to be patient and I know they're right. I'm already looking forward to Heather and Taylor coming to visit in April-- now that our apartment is all set up I want to share it with friends! I can't wait for you girls to get here.
Love and miss you all, thanks again for the e-mails, photos, and especially letters in the mail! I feel like every few days I get something in our mail slot-- it's such a treat, I love it. :) Will write again soon...
xox,
Mrs. Madden
